Loads of the turkish food places around me leave used oil drums out with the trash and I have taken quite the fancy to their bright colours and patterns and begun collecting them (I have seven different sorts so far!)

They make nice planters…

So we now have quite the tomato patch in the front room…

Pretty soon we want to put grey-water recycling into action.

This will involve diverting waste water from the bathroom and kitchen into the garden and then filtering it using sand and reed beds before sending it into our pond and other places around the garden.

Laura has done some ace sketches which I thought we should share with you…

I am in the process of insulating my loft which has forced me to face up to all of the packing materials I have been hoarding and admit that now might be a good time to get rid of some of them.

Luckily with the help of hackney freecycle, an amazing bulletin board for giving away stuff in your local area, the four bags of bubble wrap I have accumulated and the stash of used jiffy bags went pretty quickly.
